Special Characters

Excel documents must be coded in XML, not HTML. In XML, certain characters require different escaping than in HTML:

• Ampersands (&) should be &

• Quotation marks (") should be "

• Apostrophes (') should be '

• Less than (<) should be <

• Greater than (>) should be >
